Remembering King

(National Archives)

Forty-four years ago today--and a year after he publicly turned against the war in Vietnam--Martin Luther King was assassinated. Hear now the words of our slain prophet, the Isaiah of our age:

"The judgment of God is upon us today. And we could go right down the line and see that something must be done—and something must be done quickly. We have alienated ourselves from other nations so we end up morally and politically isolated in the world."

--Martin Luther King, Jr., Remaining Awake Through A Great Revolution

Lately , a feeling of hopelessness has been washing over me like a rising tide... Every threat, every unattainable demand..... every aircraft carrier to the Golf is like a wave washing over me and drowning any ember of hope that I may have had..................

And then came thr Trevon Martin snuff to bring out all the usual suspects, spouting such venom... I can blame the government when they want to kill Iranians..... Who do I blame when child murderers don't get arrested because the dead child is the wrong color...???

Your site here and your acknowledgment of Martin's stand, in which HE blew the same whistle as you is my lifeline tonight. Thank you for being here.............
